Benjamin Maiyo

Benjamin Maiyo (born 6 October 1978) is a Kenyan long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon.

At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville, he was seventh in the 10,000 -meter run. In 2002 he took at the African Championships over the same distance bronze.

He was second in the Los Angeles Marathon in 2:09:44 and second in the Chicago Marathon in 2:07:11 2005. Also in the Boston Marathon 2006, he took second place.

In 2007, he was sixth in Boston and fifth in Chicago.

Maiyo is managed by German coach Dieter Hogen. His uncle is the former 1500 - meter runner and Olympic Fourth Joseph Chesire. Maiyo is married and has two children. He is employed by the Kenyan police and has a small farm.
