Benjamin Millepied

Benjamin Millepied ( born June 10, 1977 in Bordeaux ) is a French ballet dancer and choreographer. He is a principal dancer at New York City Ballet.

Millepied is married to the actress Natalie Portman, they have a son (born 14 June 2011). Both had met during the filming of the thriller Black Swan. His German dubbing voice is spoken by the actor Frédéric Vonhof.

Tänzerische training

Millepieds ballet training began at the age of eight by his mother, a former ballet dancer. Between 13 and 16 years of age he was trained at the Conservatoire National de Lyon by Michel Rahn. He then continued his education at the School of American Ballet in New York continued until 1994.

Career

Since 1995, Millepied is a member of the ensemble of the New York City Ballet, since 1998. Since 2002 as a solo dancer and as a first soloist

In January 2013, the Paris Opera announced that Millepied was appointed as the new dance director of the Paris Opera Ballet. He will take over the position on 15 October 2014.
