Bennie Thompson

Bennie G. Thompson ( born January 28, 1948 in Bolton, Mississippi ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He is since 1993 a deputy in the U.S. House of Representatives and he represents the 2nd Congressional District of the state of Mississippi, which is west and north of the state capital of Jackson with the cities of Vicksburg, Greenville and Clarksdale from an area.

Life

Bennie Thompson attended the public schools of his home and thereafter until 1968, the Tougaloo College. In 1972 he graduated from Jackson State University in Jackson. After that, he was a teacher.

Bennie Thompson is married to London Johnson. The couple has a daughter and two grandchildren.

Political career

Between 1969 and 1973 he was a member of the City Council of Bolton from 1973 to 1979 he was mayor of that city.
