Benny Wendt
Benny Wendt ( * November 4, 1950 in Norrköping ) is a former Swedish football player.
Career
The lanky blonde Striker began his career at the Swedish Erstligaclub IFK Norrköping. In 1975 he moved to the Bundesliga 1 FC Cologne, where he only played one season without the breakthrough to create. He then joined the Erstligaaufsteiger Tennis Borussia Berlin. Here he scored in the 1976/77 season in 30 games scoring 20 goals. Legendary happened on 3.Spieltag, where he scored all four goals for Berlin in a 4-2 home win against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
After the immediate re- descent of the Berlin he went in 1977 to 1 FC Kaiserslautern, where he developed into one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga and then also in the Swedish national team made the breakthrough. In Kaiserslautern, he played together with his compatriot Ronnie Hellström. Together they managed regularly with the Palatines a place in the UEFA Cup.
With the national team he participated in Argentina at the World Cup 1978. Benny Wendt left the league after the 1980 season / 81st With Standard Liege in 1982 he was in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, which was lost 1:2 against FC Barcelona.
