Beno Udrih

Beno Udrih ( born July 5, 1982 in Celje, Slovenia) is a Slovenian basketball player. The 1.91 meter tall point guard was active until February 2014 for the New York Knicks in the NBA.

Playing career

Europe

Beno Udrih was 1997/98, made ​​his professional debut in the second Slovenian League at KK Savinjski Hopsi Polzela.

1999/2000 he moved to the highest Slovenian class to Olimpija Ljubljana, Slovenia became the Rookie of the Year 2000 chosen. For Ljubljana he played until 2002.

Udrih played 2002/ 03 in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

2003-04 he played for Avtodor Saratov in the Super League Russia and for Breil Milano in Italy's Serie A.

NBA

In the 2004 NBA Draft Beno Udrih was drafted in the first round to 28th by the San Antonio Spurs. On 14 July 2004 Udrih signed a three -year contract with the Spurs.

In 2005, he played for the Rookies in the Rookie Challenge at NBA All- Star Game Weekend.

In the seasons 2004/ 05 and 2006/ 07 he won with the Spurs in each case the NBA championship. In a total of 207 regular season games for the team from San Antonio Beno scored an average of 5.2 points and 1.8 assists in 13.0 minutes.

On 29 October 2007 Udrih was discharged from the Spurs to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2008. However, Udrih was immediately dismissed by the Timberwolves. Already on 1 November, Udrih a new club for the 2007 /08 season. The Sacramento Kings needed a point guard, Mike Bibby failed because of an injury. Udrih missed the first season games due to injury, he even drew upon in the preseason with the Spurs. On 10 November, he then gave his debut for the Kings. In the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, he scored 9 points and 5 rebounds in 26 minutes. On November 26, Udrih led the Kings to a victory against his old team. He scored a Career High of 27 points and gave 5 assists against the San Antonio Spurs. Udrih hit 8 of 12 litters from the field and converted all nine free throws.

June 2011 Udrih was transferred as part of a trade between three teams in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Until February 2013 Udrih played for the Bucks and was transferred shortly before the transfer deadline from the Bucks to the Orlando Magic. For the 2013/14 season he became a free agent to the New York Knicks. Due to poor performance Udrih was fired by the Knicks in February 2014 ahead of his contract.

National

Beno Udrih Since 2001 is a member of the Slovenian national basketball team. With this he took part, among others, the European Basketball Championships 2001, 2003 and 2005, and at the Basketball World Championship 2006 in Japan.
