Benoît Jutras

Benoît Jutras (* 1963 in Montreal, Canada ) is a Canadian composer.

Life

Benoît Jutras learned relatively early on the piano, so he already gave his first concerts at the age of five years. Later he discovered rock music for himself and heard as a pianist before he then opted for the composition. From 1984 to 1987 he studied music at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal. After his master he originally wanted to do a doctorate, but he was a friend offering at Cirque du Soleil for a few weeks as a bandleader einzuspringen.Anschließend was out of the commitment a five-month tour of Canada and California. The was so successful that he stayed 17 more years for him.

In addition to published music albums like La Nouba and Le Rêve Jutras writes since 1997, increasingly, film music. So he composed for films such as The Other Side of the Moon and Borderline - Kikis Story music while he received for his composition in the drama Alegria in 2000, the Canadian Film Award Prix Jutra for Best Film Music.

Jutras is married to an Australian woman, with whom he has a daughter. The family lives in London, England.
