Foz do Areia is a dam with a hydroelectric plant on the Rio Iguaçu in Brazil. The dam is designed as a rockfill dam with concrete seal on the water side (CFR dam ).

The hydropower plant was initially developed with four turbines with a capacity of 4 × 418.5 MW = 1674 MW. The overall performance in the final to be 6 × 418.5 MW = 2511 MW. The Francis turbines with vertical axis are designed for a normal flow of 304 m³ / s; the maximum flow is 349 m³ / s

The catchment area is 29,800 km ² and produces a mean discharge of 544 m³ / s (averaged over the years 1931-1975 ).
