Benton County (Minnesota)

The Benton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 38,451 inhabitants and a population density of 36.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Foley.

Geography

The County is located just southeast of the geographical center of Minnesota on the eastern shore of the upper Mississippi. It has an area of 1070 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers of water surface. At the Benton County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Benton County was formed on 27 October 1849 the existing only in Wisconsin St. Croix County. It was named after Thomas Hart Benton, a U.S. Senator from Missouri.
