Benton County (Missouri)

The Benton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 19,056 inhabitants and a population density of 10.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Warsaw, which was named after the Polish capital Warsaw.

Geography

The County is located in west-central Missouri in the Ozark Plateau and is drained by the Osage River. It has an area of 1949 square kilometers, of which 122 square kilometers are water surface. At the Benton County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Benton County was formed on January 3, 1835 from former parts of the Pettis and St. Clair counties. It was named after Thomas Hart Benton (1782-1858), a longtime U.S. senator from Missouri ( 1821-1851 ).

According to the census in 2010 lived in Benton County 19,056 people in 8,105 households. The population density was 10.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 8,105 households lived statistically 2.22 per person.
