Benton Visual Retention Test

The Benton test, also known as the Benton Visual Retention Test, examines the memory for visual-spatial stimuli. It is used in the diagnostic workup of organic brain damage and is one of the most common tests of its kind

Expiration

The examiner shows the patient standardized stimulus cards with geometric patterns for each few seconds. Then the patient is asked to reproduce the pattern, either immediately afterwards or after a latency period. For alternative application, the patient should the patterns are emerging either or he should choose patterns from templates.

Applicability

The test is applicable from the age of 7.
