Benz, Nordwestmecklenburg

Benz is a municipality in the northeast of the county Northwest in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Neuburg, located in the municipality of the same name.

Geography

The municipality Benz east of the city of Wismar is located in a hilly, wooded area.

For Benz includes the districts Gamehl, Goldebee, Kalsow and Warkstorf.

History

Benz was founded by the Holy Spirit pin in Wismar; the other present-day districts were originally farms. The seat of the former Kirch game was in Goldebee ( first mentioned in 1321 ). On the Preensberg was until 1385 a moth of the knight Heinrich von Bülow Gen. Grotekop; it was destroyed in a criminal action by Lübeck against Mecklenburg landed gentry because of crimes committed by this highway robbery. The name Preensberg points to the family of the Knights of Preen than the previous owner. This place was probably inhabited in Slavic times. Preensberg as the district is devastated since 1970 and was subsequently cleared.

The municipal area is characterized still agricultural.

In Kalsow a modern nursing home was built.

The district Gamehl was over 600 years the headquarters of the von Stralendorff. In 1860, Franz von Stralendorff (* 1805, † 1883), the present mansion Gamehl built in neo-gothic style.

Transport links

Between the hamlets Benz and Kalsow the B 105 runs ( Wismar -Rostock ). The cross Wismar ( A 20 / A 14) is located about six kilometers from Benz. The Kalsow railway station is on the railway line Wismar -Rostock.
