Benz Patent Motorwagen Velo (1894 )

The patented by Carl Benz Motorwagen was called Velo, and it was the first mass produced car. Until 1895 134 units were produced. Duryea in Springfield, Massachusetts also built in series, while other auto pioneers Panhard & Levassor as implemented on individual production.

The Benz Patent-Motorwagen Velo was provided to the Benz Patent Motor Car Victoria as a smaller model to the side.

He was also equipped with a single cylinder engine in the rear, the 1045 cc ( bore x stroke = 110 mm x 110 mm ) there is an output of 1.5 hp ( 1.1 kW ) at 450 min-1 moved. 1896 power 1900 3 hp ( 2.2 kW ) at 700 min-1 and 1901 rose to 2.75 hp ( 2.1 kW ) at 600 min -1 to 3.5 hp ( 2.6 kW) at 800 min -1. There was initially a surface carburetor, and an inductor for the ignition, a float carburetor and battery ignition were offered from 1896. Between 1894 and 1900 the cars were as bike ( velocipede ) for ℳ 2000 --- ℳ 2200 - sold from 1896 to 1901 there was the Comfortable ( Velociped Comfortable ) for ℳ 2500, --- ℳ 2800, -. A total of 1,200 vehicles of these types emerged.
