Benzamide is an organic chemical compound from the group of carboxylic acid amides. It is a white crystalline powder with weak ammoniacal odor. From a chemical point of view it is the amide of benzoic acid.

The reaction of benzoyl chloride with ammonia, benzamide can be produced.

Use

Benzamide used as pesticides and for the preparation of vat dyes. Some compounds derived ( benzamides ) are used as drugs.
