Benzylpenicillin benzathine benzylpenicillin benzathine or a drug and a salt of Benzylpenicillins (penicillin G). It is used among other things for long-term treatment of syphilis and for prophylaxis against a relapse of rheumatic fever.

By salt formation with N, N- dibenzylethylendiamine creates a very poorly water -soluble compound ( "depot penicillin "), which is hydrolyzed slowly after intramuscular injection in the tissue depot to pharmacologically active benzylpenicillin and then absorbed. Depending on the dosage and pathogen sensitivity to therapeutically effective serum levels at least two weeks to maintain them.

The antibiotic was patented in 1953 by Wyeth. Today, the drug is available as a generic in the trade. 1977 benzathine benzylpenicillin was added to the list of essential drugs of the World Health Organization.
