Bergeggi

Bergeggi ( in Ligurian: BERGEGGI ) is a municipality with 1117 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Savona.

Geography

The village is situated on the Riviera di Ponente, on the slopes of Monte Sant Elena. From the Ligurian Sea Bergeggi is 347 meters away. It belongs to the Comunità Montana del Giovo and is located about ten kilometers south- west of the provincial capital of Savona.

In 1985, the Nature Reserve Bergeggi was established, comprising the Isola di Bergeggi and the opposite coast of the Riviera di Ponente.

2007 and 2008 the municipality was awarded the Blue Flag, which distinguishes the superior quality of the beaches and the sea.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity Bergeggi Zone 4 has been assigned. This means that the municipality is in a seismically inert zone.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category D, as the number of degree days has a value of 1769. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between November 1 and April 15 for 12 hours per day.
