Geographical location
The state recognized resort Berghaupten Located in the foothills of the Black Forest in 170-438 meters above sea level at the entrance of the Kinzig valley in a quiet location just off the runs in the valley trunk road 33
Neighboring communities
The municipality is bordered to the north by Ohlsbach, on the east by the city of Gengenbach, on the southwest by Hohberg and to the northwest by the circle city of Offenburg.

History
Berghaupten was first documented in 1277. In the following centuries the history of the place was closely associated with the Lords of Hohengeroldseck until the family became extinct in 1634. There followed a period of disputes between Austria and the Bishop of Strasbourg. In 1697 the village was sold to the Barons of Schley.
South of the town was once the castle today Outbound Berghaupten, while in the place was a noble country house, whose owner changed frequently and was developed by the Barons of Schleiß the moated castle already to the acquisition of the place. The Barons were the dilapidated water tower to tear later and erected in its place a new building, which came in 1831 in the possession of the church, which initially used it as a school house before the building was supplied to its present purpose as the Town Hall.
