Geography

Geographical location

A large village Berglen, approximately 25 kilometers east of Stuttgart in 300 to 450 meters above sea level in the Keuper hills Berglen, a western foothills of the Welzheimer forest between Schorndorf, Winnenden and Backnang. Most districts are located in the valley of the brook book or on the valley slopes.

History

The community Berglen became the 1 April 1972 by the merger of previously politically independent communities Bretz Acker, desolate, Hardt, Oeschelbronn ( with Stöckenhof, for the most part to the neighboring municipality guarantees that 1972 is part of the town of Winnenden since 1 December to 31 December 1971, was one ), Oppelsbohm, Reichenbach in Winnenden, savior castle, Steinach and front White Paper established under the name of book mountain. Already on December 27, 1972, the name was changed in Berglen. Hößlinswart was incorporated into Berglen on 1 January 1975.

Oeschelbronn, savior castle, Oppelsbohm, Bretz arable and Steinach were first mentioned in 1293 in a charter of the monastery of Lorch. These places came in 1325 with the reign of Winnenden in Württemberg. The other villages belonging to the monastery Office Adelberg fell during the Reformation in 1534 also to Württemberg.

Religions

Since the Reformation, the area now Berglen is predominantly Lutheran. In Oppelsbohm Hößlinswart and there are Protestant churches, for some part places the community in Buoch is responsible. The few Catholics are spiritually sustained by Winnenden from. Besides the two large mainstream churches but there are also an Evangelical Free Church in the Baptist Federation of Protestant congregations and in Steinach a New Apostolic Church.

Education

With the neighborhood school in the Berglen there is a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. In addition, Steinach and front White Paper have their own primary schools. Secondary schools can be visited in the neighboring towns. For the youngest members of the community there besides six municipal kindergartens also is a private forest kindergarten.

Freeman

  • Werner Hofmann is the only honorary citizen Mountain Lens. The former rector of the neighborhood school in the Berglen is the author of the local chronicle and several native history books.
