As part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, which belonged to the Frankish Empire Circle, Bergtheim 1805 Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany was secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor and the Peace of Pressburg left to the formation of the Grand Duchy, with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

The first mention of the church part Dipbach dates back to 1282, when Bishop Berthold II von Sternberg to Würzburg, the village Dipbach pledged to Wolff von Grumbach. It can be assumed that Dipbach was the time of the Frankish conquest. The place name probably originated from the composition of Diepoldsberg and Bach.

Opferbaum was first mentioned in 1160 in a document in which gave a certain Rupert for his master Sefried the monastery of St. Stephan a yard and a field in Opferbaum. The place name is probably derived from " victims spell" here, which means as much as victims district. The place name could be found on a Germanic place of worship, perhaps at the nearby Acorn Mountain, point.

Nationwide stir Bergtheim gained by the election of a new mayor in April 2008, at the Konrad schlier (CSU ) against Robert Kremling ( Free Christian voters Community ) took. The counting revealed a majority of one vote for Kremling, whereupon schlier called for a review of the ballots. She revealed that one of the voices for Kremling was actually invalid. Because of a tie, the lot now had to decide which eventually ruled in favor Schlier. For further confusion contributed that the local Returning Officer also the last name schlier wore, which resulted in Kremlings allegiance to violent accusations against him, even though candidate and returning officers are not related. The case, brought the end of 2008 even to the ZDF program " People in 2008 ", in which both mayoral candidate and the local returning officer were present.
