Berjou

Berjou is a commune of 480 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Orne in Basse-Normandie region.

Geography

Berjou is located 13 kilometers north-east of Flers. The municipality is bordered by the Noireau. The village is near the industrial centers of the region.

History

During the Second World War, the local resistance assisted the Allies and provided with so that they could win the battle against the German occupiers faster. As the 214th British Division marched into the village, but half of it was already destroyed. The General of the unit continued her badge on the French flag and vowed to let this blow over Berlin. He kept the promise and the place now has this treasure recovered.
