Berkeley County (South Carolina)

Berkeley County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Moncks Corner.

Geography

The County is located in the southeast of South Carolina, is about 25 km from the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​3181 square kilometers, of which 338 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Georgetown County, Williamsburg County, Charleston County, Dorchester County, Orangeburg County and Clarendon County.

History

Berkeley County was formed in 1682. It was named after John and William Berkeley, co-owner of the province of Carolina.
