Berlin Central and Regional Library

The Central and Regional Library Berlin ( ZLB ) is the national library of the State of Berlin.

History and Legal Basis

The ZLB was October 1, 1995, a Berlin state law as a foundation under public law. In the foundation the America Memorial Library and the Berlin Public Library were summarized. Using the Library Law Amendment Act of the Foundation were incorporated on January 1, 2005, the Senate Library of Berlin and the Berlin catalog. At the ZLB, the center of excellence for conservation archives and libraries in Berlin and Brandenburg (KBE ) is located. It was founded by an initiative of the Senate Chancellery for Cultural Affairs of the State of Berlin and the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of Brandenburg.
