Berlin is a town in Rensselaer County in the U.S. state of New York, about 32 km east of Albany.
The economy of Berlin consists essentially of a paper mill and a few farms where dairy farming. Berlin also represents a recreational area for the residents of Albany, Troy and other cities
Geography
The highest point is the Berlin Mountain, 859 meters above sea level, near the border with Massachusetts in the Taconic Mountains. The Taconic Mountains form a barrier in the eastern part of the city, so no road connects the town with Massachusetts.
The eastern city limits is also the border with Massachusetts.
History
Berlin was founded in 1806, though the valley of the Little Hoosic River, in which the municipality is located, has been inhabited since 1754.
