History

The first station in place of the current S- train station was taken on February 1, 1875 under the name Treptow in operation. It included two side platforms on the then two-track railway ring. 1888 side platforms were replaced by a central platform and taken a reception building at the Elsenstraße in operation. By 1896, the circle line has been expanded to four tracks. On the external goods tracks a second central platform was created. In the opening years he served alongside the specially created exhibition station at the Görlitz line to the public transport to Berlin Trade Exhibition in Treptower Park.

Between 1903 and 1906 the south extending Görlitz line was fitted with a pair of tracks for suburban trains. Since the Görlitz station had one hand insufficient capacity to accommodate the trains, on the other hand, a continuation of the trains could not be carried into the city center of Berlin, the suburban tracks were unthreaded from the ring road at the Treptow station. Since October 1885 there was at this point a connection curve between two paths. North of Treptow the trains over the Spree and on about the station Stralau - Rummelsburg were (now Ostkreuz ) performed on the light rail.

The two suburban railways in Treptow had a limited capacity result for the ring and suburban trains. Between 1914 and 1921, the portion of the Südringkurve in Stralau hype castle was extended up to the unloading, the Görlitz line south of Treptow on four suburban tracks. The Spree bridge has been extended accordingly and moves the freight tracks in Treptow outward so that the station platform was built in 1896 now exclusively served the suburban traffic. The separation of the two lines was performed level free. Both routes, ring and Görlitz suburban railway, were designed so that a direction of operation was possible, additional tracks combined both routes together.

In 1924, the electrification of the Berlin City, ring and suburban railways began on November 6, 1928 went the ring electrified railway tracks from Neukölln to Treptow and Südringkurve according to Warschauer Straße in operation. On February 1, 1929 followed the tracks to the north ring and the suburban train to Görlitz Baumschulenweg. Since October 3, 1937 called the Treptower Park station.

During the Second World War it came to the destruction of the reception building and damaging the Spree bridges. The trains came to a halt in April 1945 and was resumed in June 1945. The first trains stopping in Treptower Park wrong about the circle line to Neukölln. In February 1946 then the ports on the river as well as in the direction Baumschulenweg could be put into operation again.

Since May 26, 1952 reinforced the GDR border controls for travelers to West - Berlin. Since the circle line between Treptower Park and Sun Alley crossed the sector boundary on their way to Neukölln, south of the station were set up at the ring tracks Behelfsbahnsteige. The platforms but never went into operation, so that the controls during the stay in Treptower Park took place. With the construction of the Wall on 13 August 1961 the connection to West Berlin was interrupted and directed the trains to the south only to the Görlitz line. The unused rail tracks will be dismantled as far as possible until 1981.

With the reunification also closing the gap between Treptower Park and Sun Alley up for debate. However, the project could not be implemented until 18 December 1997 as the company was forced to track connections at Treptower Park to be restored, on the other hand, the ring rail line and the planned extension of the motorway A 100 should not interfere with each other. Treptower Park station was previously redeveloped between August 1995 and August 1997 and equipped for disabled people.
