Bernadette Chirac

Bernadette Chirac ( born May 18 in Paris in 1933 as Bernadette Chodron de Courcel ) is a French politician and the wife of the former ( 22 ) French President Jacques Chirac, and was thus of 17 May 1995 to 16 May 2007 Première Dame de la République Française ( first wife of the French Republic ).

Life

Bernadette Chirac was the daughter of Jean -Louis Chodron de Courcel (1907-1985), a sales director, and Marguerite de Brondeau d' Urtières ( 1910-2000 ). She was the eldest of three children; her sister Catherine in 1946, her brother Jérôme born in 1948.

After completing her studies at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris she married on March 16, 1956 Jacques Chirac, whom she had met there as students. They have two biological children: Laurence (born 1958 ) and Claude Chirac (born 1962 ). The Vietnamese woman Anh Đạo Traxel they have adopted unofficially in 1979.

At the request of the children, she received the International Award as a Cavalier of the Order of the Smile. In February 2008, she was the Pushkin Medal, a national award given Russia.
