Bernard Boverton Redwood

Bernard Boverton Redwood ( born November 28, 1874 in Finchley, † September 28, 1911 in Hampstead ) was a British motor boaters.

Redwood was at the Olympic Games 1908 in London, together with the two other crew members of the Gyrinus, Thomas Thornycroft and John Field -Richards, two-time Olympic champion in power boating, in the B- Class and C-Class, each about 40 miles. Thornycroft enlisted the help of both crew members to complete, in order to exploit the penetrating through heavy seas water. In addition, Redwood had previously made ​​a name as a member of the Royal Motor Yacht Club and won a prize for his studies on motor boats.

In the B class, where only boats with a maximum length of 20 meters were allowed to participate, launched the Gyrinus against John Marshall Gorham, using Quicksilver. However, this had to give up after two laps because water had gone into the boat, so Redwood together with the two other members became the first Olympic champion in power boating.
