Bernard Clerfayt
Bernard Clerfayt ( born September 30, 1961 in Uccle / Ukkel ) is a Belgian politician.
He graduated from the Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain- la -Neuve, the Licence and the Master in Economics and is a renowned researcher and professor.
Political career
At the local level he was first elected in 1988 and from 1989 to 2007 Member of the Regional Council ( Parliament ) of Brussels. Clerfayt is also deputy chairman of the " Democratic Front of Francophones ", the part of the party " Mouvement Réformateur " ( Francophone Liberal Party of Belgium ), and since 2001 the mayor of Schaerbeek / Schaerbeek, Brussels. Since the elections of 2007 he is member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives. On 20 March 2008 Clerfayt made before King Albert II took the oath as Belgium's State Secretary for Finance, responsible for the fight against tax evasion, modernizing the financial and environmental taxes.
