Bernard I, Count of Armagnac

Bernhard I, known as le Louche († 995 ), was the first Count of Armagnac.

He was the younger son of Guillaume Garcés, count of FEZENSAC. After the death of his father, 960 he received as appanage the County of Armagnac. As a punishment for his actions, he vowed to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, but could not keep the oath. As compensation, he founded the Basilica of Saint -Orens in Auch. His son Geraud I. Trancaléon († 1020) was his successor.
