Bernard IV, Lord of Lippe

Bernhard of Lippe IV (c. 1230; † June 1275 ) was ruler of the reign lip.

Life

He was the eldest son of Bernhard III. born to the lip and Sofie van Cuijck - Arnsberg.

1254 he took over the regency of Rheda 1265 and followed his father as ruler of the house lip. His brother Hermann III. to the lip he inherited the city Lippstadt.

Along with his uncle, Bishop Simon I of Paderborn, he participated in the Battle of Zuelpich part against the house Jülich, when his uncle was captured. He replaced him in 1269, thus establishing the debt of the house lip.

At times he was guardian in Ravensberg, had disputes with Lippstadt as a member of the Rhenish Confederation and was lord of the open court beings Fort.

Bernhard was buried in the monastery of Marienfeld.

Progeny

Bernhard was from 1260 with the Countess Agnes of Cleves (~ 1232 - ~ August 1, 1285 ), daughter of Count Dietrich IV of Cleves and the Hedwig von Meissen, married. From this marriage the following children were born:

  • Simon I. zur Lippe (~ 1261 - August 10, 1344 ), married to Countess Adelheid von Waldeck
  • Elisabeth zur Lippe (* 1273 ), married to Count Henry III. Solms- Braunfels
