Bernard J. Dwyer

Bernard James Dwyer ( born January 24, 1921 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, † 31 October 1998 in Metuchen, New Jersey ) was an American politician.

Bernard Dwyer attended Rutgers University in Newark. From 1940 to 1945 he served in the United States Navy. He then worked as an insurance broker and belonged from 1958 to 1969 the city council of Edison ( Edison Township Council) to. Between 1969 and 1973, Dwyer had finally held the office of mayor of the city. From 1974 to 1980 he was a Senator in the Senate of New Jersey, before he was elected as a Democrat to the 97th Congress as well as the following five conventions. There Dwyer represented in the U.S. House of Representatives from 3 January 1981 to January 3, 1993 the first 15 and later the sixth electoral district of the state of New Jersey.

Dwyer died on 31 October 1998 and was buried at St. Gertrude 's Cemetery in Colonia.
