History

Maschinenfabrik Bernard Krone evolved from a 1906 founded by Bernard and Anna crown village smithy. In addition to economic and forged crown Bernhard had also started with the trade of agricultural equipment, hardware, household appliances and cooking stoves and ovens. His two sons, Bernard and Henry had learned the blacksmith's trade with his father and took over in 1924 due to health reasons his father's company.

After a reconstruction of the enterprise in the postwar years Maschinenfabrik crown benefited from the economic growth of the 1950s and brought new products to market. This resulted in increases in the number of employees. During 1950, the company had 70 employees in the year, 320 employees were 10 years later working for the crown. In the early 1960s the labor market in Spellenberg and surrounding area was exhausted, so that the company of around 200 employees from a radius of 50 kilometers pulled up daily by bus.

For the increase in agricultural machinery production, Bernard Krone decided for an additional production site in Werlte, where a connection to the rail network and workers were present. In June 1964, the manufacture of " pickups " and constructions for the charge car production in Spellenberg was added to Werlte. A little later came the series production of agricultural " trucks " to do so.

At the end of the 1960s the number of employees of the company had reached 700, of which 180 persons were employed in the branch Werlte. In the year 1969 25.000 machines left the works, and the turnover had risen to 67 million DM in 1970.

Having developed the market for agricultural machinery declined, began in 1971 the manufacture of commercial vehicles. After an international expansion was the adaptation of the company structure. On 1 January 2000 the new partnership form of GmbH & Co. KG took the place of the GmbH.
