Bernardino Galliari

Bernardino Galliari ( born November 3, 1707 Andorno Micca, Piedmont, † March 31, 1794 ) was an Italian fresco painter and theater artist.

Galliari is considered one of the founders of the Piedmontese theater painting. He dominated especially the illusionistic perspective painting. In his early days he worked mainly in Bergamo and Milan, where he in 1742 for the Milan Scala anfertigte a theater equipment. 1772 brought him Frederick the Great at the Royal Opera in Berlin. In his later phase Galliari created mainly altarpieces such as the conversion of Paul in the church of Sant'Agostino in Milan.
