Bernardo Tasso

Bernardo Tasso (* November 11, 1493 in Bergamo, † September 5, 1569 in Mantua ) was an Italian poet.

Life

Tasso was born in Bergamo, studied in Padua and then held various positions in Rome, Ferrara and Venice, where he already made ​​a name for himself as a poet. In 1531 he entered the service of Prince Ferdinando Sanseverino of Salerno, whom he followed into exile in 1552. In his poems he imitated the ancient classics. His works " Odi " ( 1560) and " Salmi " ( 1560) are modeled by Horace.
