Life and work

History of Art History Carnival wrote in 2000 to the West plant project. For the first time the Vienna St. Stephen's Cathedral was opened for the exhibition of a contemporary artist. His sculptures, paintings and formations combined with the architecture of the cathedral into a debate about continuity and breaks in the story.

A recurring central element in carnival work is the creation of his art in the midst of his audience. Under the title 12 days 12 nights lived and worked Carnival 1987-2006 seven times already just this time observable for anyone at any time ready to talk in galleries around the globe. He left during this time not once his job was finally the twelve deeds of Heracles, the model of this project. Based on the performance of the ancient heroes carnival always created twelve paintings whose themes were inspired by conversations with visitors to the actions. The age-old myth of the information has been brought into relationship with the 24 -hour information on the day. For each of the seven stations [ Vienna (1987 ), Amsterdam ( 1990 ), Cologne ( 1991), Zurich (1992 ), Jerusalem ( 1994), New York ( 1997), and finally again Vienna (2006 )] was a separate sound composed, was 288 hours long to hear in the respective gallery.

The walk-in sculpture Thor's Hammer at the entrance of the Museum of Applied Arts ( MAK) in Vienna was founded in 1990 under the eyes of museum visitors who were able to observe any progress of the work. Another walk-in sculpture designed Carnival 1996-1997 in the Dominican Republic. Terra Nova takes the landing of Christopher Columbus on the island as an opportunity to move about, often to reflect terrible history of the Americas.

Based on these works designed by the carnival series tools, in which he immortalized the necessary tools for sculpting himself as sculptures. A bronze in the shape of a spade from this series revised to Carnival Diva Award, an Austrian award for sensational real estate projects, which is awarded annually since 2002 and the jury Carnival himself belongs.
