Bernd Posselt

Bernd Posselt ( born June 4, 1956 in Pforzheim ) is a German politician ( CSU), journalist and spokesman for the Sudeten German ethnic group.

Life

Posselt 's son Sudeten German - Styrian parents. He is a member of the European Parliament since 1997 Chairman chairman of the Union of displaced persons ( UDV ) in the CSU, since 1998 President of the Pan-European Union Germany and since 2008 Chairman of the Sudeten German ethnic group, therefore their highest representative since 1994. From 2000 to 2008 he was National Chairman of the Sudeten Germans. Since 1993, he serves on the board of the CSU Regional Chapter Munich, since 2000 also the (state ) Board of CSU. He is one of the main organizers of the Sudeten days.

Posselt often visited the Czech Republic. In November 2011 he was a member of an official delegation of the Bavarian State Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Horst Seehofer. This delegation led talks in Prague with the Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas. Posselt is committed to the improvement of relations between the Sudeten Germans and the Czechs.

Posselt was a founding member of the Study Centre Weikersheim and is a trustee of the Institute of East and Southeast European Studies in Regensburg. He is also a German Catholics in the Board forum.

On 3 February 2010 he was awarded the Ukrainian Free University in Munich, the legal honorary doctorate ( Dr. iur. Hc ).

Activity within the Pan-European Union

In 1975, Posselt the Pan-Europa Youth Germany, whose national chairman, he was until 1990. He is co-founder of the company founded in 1976 Brüsewitz center. During this time he was also an employee of the International Society for Human Rights. From 1978 to 1994 he was a close political associate and press secretary of Otto von Habsburg, the then President of the International Pan-European Union. Since 1986 he has been Member of the Board of the Pan-European Union Germany, first as Vice President, then from 1989 to 1998 as Executive Vice President, and finally as President since 1998. As a board member of the International Pan-European Union, he coordinated since the early eighties, the underground groups of the Pan-European Union in the socialist states. Since 1993 he has been director of a Pan-European working group, which deals with the Balkan countries of former Yugoslavia and Albania.
