Bernd Wehmeyer

Bernd Wehmeyer ( born June 6, 1952 in Herford ) is a former German football player. He completed 208 games during his Bundesliga career.

In the early years of his career he played in the 1971/72 season for Arminia Bielefeld (two games) as well as in the years 1973 to 1976 Hannover 96 (23 games) in the German top flight.

He was known in professional circles by the nickname " fiddly " Through its quick and technically dominated play.

His greatest success Wehmeyer at Hamburger SV, for he held until 1985 in a total of 183 games aground in 1978 in the 1st Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals. With the Hamburger SV he won three German championships (1979, 1982 and 1983) and the European Champion Clubs' Cup (1983). Wehmeyer was from 1983 to 1984 a total of 13 times for the Olympic team selection active.

From 1995 to 1998 Bernd Wehmeyer was at Hamburger SV as a manager ( current name: Sports Director) under President Uwe Seeler worked, since 1998 he is there club manager. In early October 2011, he suffered a heart attack while jogging.
