Bernd Wittenburg

Bernd Wittenburg ( born April 1, 1950) is a retired German boxer. He was 1975 and 1977 Vice European Champion amateur middleweight.

Career

Bernd Wittenburg began as a teenager with boxing and was delegated due to its good performance in the national junior level for SC Dynamo Berlin. His coach there was Horst manure. He was a member of the protection and security organs of the GDR.

In 1970, he occupied the age of twenty at the "Friendship " tournament in Vidin / Bulgaria at middleweight with a points victory over Djatschuk, USSR, 1st place and in 1971 he joined the " fairness " tournament in Leipzig middleweight behind Anatoli Klimanow from the USSR and Hans -Joachim Brauske, GDR, on the 3rd place.

In 1971, he first participated in the seniors at the East German championship and reached an average weight behind Peter Urbach of the SG Motor Görlitz and Hans -Jürgen Voigt countries of SG bismuth Gera 3rd place. In 1972 he was then for the first time DDR - middleweight champion with a win in the final over Hans -Joachim Brauske, SC Chemie Halle. In the same year he also won the championship in the protection and security organs of the socialist states in Sofia at light heavyweight with a points victory in the final over Jozef Pietrzak from Poland. At the Olympics in Munich in 1972 but not Bernd Wittenburg, but Hans -Joachim Brauske was used, but had to retire there already in the second round.

Also in 1973, won Bernd Wittenburg GDR champion middleweight title. He defeated it in the finals Wolfgang Heimann from the SC Dynamo Berlin. In 1974 Bernd Wittenburg his third GDR champion middleweight title with a win over Eckhard Hadler SC tractor from Schwerin. In 1977 Bernd Wittenburg launched for the last time at an international championship. He finished it at the European Championships in Halle ( Saale) in the middleweight division again the 2nd place. In the final, he lost it against Leonid Shaposhnikov from the USSR on points ( 0:5 ).
