Berndt von Staden

Berndt von Staden (* June 24, 1919 in Rostock ) is a German diplomat.

Life

Berndt von Staden grew up as a Balt in Estonia. After studying law in Bonn and Hamburg, he joined the Foreign Office in 1951.

In his memoirs " interglacial and thaw" Staden describes the turn from confrontation to relaxation, beginning its proceedings as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kennedy and Johnson in Washington, DC observed. Among the governments of Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt Staden could help shape as Head of External Relations and Security in the Federal Chancellery this détente itself.
