Berner Zeitung

The Berner Zeitung (BZ ) is the third largest subscribed daily newspaper in Switzerland and the largest daily newspaper in the Canton of Bern. The core competence of the regional newspaper is the extensive coverage of the region and on sporting events. The Berner Zeitung is published in three regional editions city and region of Bern, Emmental and BZ Langesthaler day sheet and with a common sheath reporting to the Bernese Oberland and Lake Thun day sheet. It is part of the Zurich Tamedia, publisher Pietro Supino. Died in 2012, the then publisher Charles von Graffenried.

History

First published in the Berner Zeitung, the history of that popularly known as " BZ " newspaper on January 3, 1979. However, dates back to the year 1834. The family tree can essentially four main lines follow, representing the origins of today's Berner Zeitung. The Intelligence Journal (1834 ), which was renamed about 1888 in Berne day sheet. The Emmenthal News (1883 ), the weekly paper of the Emmen valley (1844 ) and the New Berner Zeitung (1919). The merger of the Emmenthal Journal and the New Bern newspaper created in 1973, the Berner Zeitung. This closed in 1977 with the daily news (formerly Emmenthal messages) to the Bernese news together. The merger of the Berne and the Bernese News daily paper originated in 1979 today Berner Zeitung. The first edition of the Berner Zeitung was published on January 3, 1979.

The first editor in chief was Peter Schindler, who led the editorial 1979-1982. On him followed Urs P. Gasche (1982-1985), Ronald rye (1985-1986), Beat Hurni (1987-1996) and Andreas Z'Graggen ( 1996-2005 ). Between 2006 and 2009 initiated Markus Eisenhut and Michael Hug the editors together. After the change of aconite for Tages-Anzeiger Michael Hug was the sole editor in chief. He has made the editorship of Peter Jost end of 2013.

At the beginning of 2001, the daily paper of Thun and the Bernese Oberland to head leaves of the Berner Zeitung. In the autumn of the same year another regional edition was launched with the Solothurn daily paper; it was discontinued in 2009 for economic reasons. Since 2001, the Berner Zeitung, the Freiburger Nachrichten also provides the national sides.

In December 2011 Espace Media announced its intention to split the output and the Upper Aargau Langesthaler daily paper, which they had taken from the AZ Media AG merge. The first edition of BZ Langesthaler daily paper was published on 2 July 2012.
