Bernhard Duhm

Bernhard Duhm ( born October 10, 1847 in Bingum and today Leer ( Ostfriesland), † November 1, 1928 in Basel ) was a German Protestant theologian ( Old Testament ).

Life

Duhm was the son of a brewer and studied from 1867 to 1870 in Göttingen Theology at Albrecht Ritschl, Heinrich Ewald and Julius Wellhausen. He was there since 1871 Repetent at the Theological pen and taught since 1873 at the Faculty of Theology, first as a lecturer, from 1877 as ao Professor of Old Testament. From 1888 he taught in Basel as one of the most important and influential Old Testament scholars of his time. Duhm was a representative of the so-called History of Religions school.
