Bernhard Lang

Bernhard Lang ( born February 24, 1957 in Linz) is an Austrian composer.

Bernhard Lang graduated from in Graz in 1975 to study music, since 2003 he is Professor of Composition at the University of Arts in Graz.

His musical work is not limited to the field of contemporary music, Lang also often sought contact with jazz combos or to electronic music. He has also worked as an arranger. His works are hardly classify in a genre, they include works for the musical theater, film or radio plays in classical and exotic instrumentation as well as a performances and sound installations.

Lang's compositions have been performed in recent years at all the major festivals of contemporary music, so in Donaueschingen, at the Darmstadt Summer Courses or even several times when music protocol in the Styrian Autumn.

In the season 2008/2009 would long Capell - Compositeur with the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Lang writes frequently cycles of works, such as font (since 1996 ), difference / repetition (since 1998) and Monadology ( since 2007). In the Donaueschingen Music Days 2010 his work monadology IX was performed by the quartet 's triad Arditti Diotima Jack.
