Bernhard Maier

Bernhard Maier ( born 1963 in Oberkirch (Baden) ) is a German scholar of religion, which researches and publishes in particular to culture, religion and language of the Celts.

Life

Bernhard Maier studied Comparative Religious Studies, Comparative Linguistics, Celtic Philology and Semitic Studies at the Albert- Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, the Aberystwyth University and the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Bonn and the University of London, and he in 1989 with King and Goddess. The Celtic conception of kingship and its oriental parallels to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. In 1998 he completed his habilitation at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität Bonn on The Religion of the Celts: gods, myths, world view. From 1999 to 2004 he was a Heisenberg Fellow of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

From 2004 to 2006, Maier Reader and Professor of Celtic at the University of Aberdeen, since 2006 he has been a professor of General Religion Science and European religious history at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen held. Bernhard Maier is married and has four children.
