Bernhard Rapkay

Bernhard Rapkay ( born January 8, 1951 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German politician. He is since 1994 MEP for the SPD in the Socialist Group in the EP.

His duties and responsibilities include his membership in the Committee on Legal Affairs and his deputy shaft for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. He is also a member of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Europe - Latin America and the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee, " EU-Chile " and substitute for the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

Career

At the beginning of his professional career were different professional activities in adult education, public relations and project management. In the period from 1991 to 1999, he held a greater amount of SPD function offices, for example, he was a member of the District Board of Western Westphalia. Since 1978 he was a member of the board of the SPD Dortmund, from 1991 to 1999 chairman.

His political career continued on its membership of the SPD state Board of NRW, the national Bureau and deputy chairman of the SPD Federal Party Council. Eventually, he became Chairman of the SPD group in the European Parliament.
