Bernhard Rumpe

Bernhard Rumpe ( * 1967 in Abensberg ) is a professor of computer science in Germany. He researches and teaches at the RWTH Aachen University as Head of the Chair in Software Engineering.

Life

From 1987 to 1992 Bernhard Rumpe studied computer science and mathematics at the Technical University of Munich. From 1992 he was a research assistant at the Chair for Software and Systems Engineering, received his doctorate in 1996 and his habilitation in 2003 at the Technical University of Munich.

From 2003 to 2008 Bernhard Rumpe was director of the Institute for Software Systems Engineering at the TU Braunschweig. Since 1 January 2009 he is head of the Chair of Software Engineering at RWTH Aachen University.

It provides contributions to the semantics and the use of modeling languages in software development (requirements, architecture, code generation, system configuration, quality management) on the basis of his research group started by Language Workbench Monti Core. In this case, resulting in a range of combinable languages , such as UML / P architecture modeling to MontiArc and several delta modeling languages for variant modeling.

Numerous projects in the automotive sector deal with architecture, quality and requirements management in the vehicle and with intelligent driver assistance to self-navigating cars. He headed the participation of the Technical University of Braunschweig in the DARPA Urban Challenge. He founded the Springer International Journal on Software and Systems Modeling, together with his colleague Robert France in 2001 and where he worked as editor -in -chief.

His school days spent Bernhard Rumpe from 1973 at the Aventinus Primary School Abensberg and 1977-1986 on the Danube School Kelheim.
