Bernhard Siegert

Bernhard Siegert (* 1959 in Bremen ) is a German media historian and media theorist.

Life

Siegert studied from 1979 to 1987 German literature, philosophy and history at the Albert -Ludwigs- University in Freiburg and received his doctorate in 1991 at the Ruhr- University Bochum. Since 2001 he is professor and chair of history and theory of culture techniques at the Bauhaus- University Weimar, and together with Friedrich Kittler, Norbert Bolz, Georg Christoph Tholen, Peter Weibel, Wolfgang Coy, Claus Pias, Sybille Krämer and Wolfgang Ernst a of the pioneers of German culture science-oriented media studies. Since 2008, Siegert, together with Lorenz Engell Director of the International Research Institute for Cultural Technologies and Media Philosophy ( IKKM ) in Weimar.
