Bernstorf

Bernstorff is a municipality in the district of North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is by the Office Grevesmühlen country located in the town of Greve mills, which forms an administrative fellowship with the Office managed.

Geography

The community Bernstorff is located seven kilometers southwest of the town of Greve mills and is located about 30 kilometers from Wismar. The rivers Stepenitz and Radegast enclose the hilly municipality in the north and west. The municipal area is dominated by agriculture.

At Bernstorff Bernstorff districts include the expansion, Jeese, Pieverstorf, Strohkirchen, Wilkenhagen and Wölschendorf.

History and Sights

The name of the village goes back to the Bernstorff family, the estate Bernardestorp owned since the 13th century.

The complex from 1879 to 1882, built of brick two-storey mansion Bernstorff was designed by Georg Daniel in the style of the Dutch Renaissance. There are two side wings and a flat central projection with gables and on the east side of an octagonal tower on the south side. The classification followed with yellow bricks and sandstone.

This former manor house is now the focal point of the place Bernstorff. Last owner of the estate in 1945 was Albrecht Graf von Bernstorff. In building a cancer hospice will open on April 15, 2014 after the renovation.

A memorial stone for Werner Bernstorp 1359 is located off of the manor house in the overgrown park.

Traffic

The Baltic Sea motorway A 20 divides the municipality into a northern and a southern half; the motorway connection Greve mills is about eleven kilometers away. About the neighboring community Börzow is connected to the national road 105 ( Grevesmühlen -Lübeck ). In greaves four kilometers away there is a stopping point on the railway line Lübeck- Bad little ones.

People

In Wölschendorf was Paul Brock Müller (1864-1925), a painter and illustrator, was born.
