Berstett

Berstett is a commune with 2317 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the Communauté de communes du Kochersberg ( CoCoKo ) to the arrondissement of Strasbourg- Campagne.

Geography

Berstett lies in the cooker Mountain, a natural landscape of the Lower Rhine, about 15 km north- west of Strasbourg and is surrounded by the municipalities Pfettisheim, Olwisheim and Eckwersheim. The district Rumersheim is affected by the departmental road D30 and Reitwiller by the D30 and the D31. The village Berstett is only connected by secondary roads to the transport network.

History

Today's church was formed in 1972 through the merger of the municipalities Berstett Gimbrett, Reitwiller and Rumersheim. The history of individual towns date back to the Middle Ages.

Since 1990 there is a treaty of friendship with the German community Bollschweil in Baden -Württemberg.

Attractions

  • From 1742 to 1789 there was a castle Berstett. It was canceled. The owner was Philip of Berstett.
  • Another castle, built by the Lords of Berstett is first mentioned in 1120 and 1638 was probably destroyed.
