Bert Rürup
Hans- Adalbert " Bert" Rrup ( born November 7, 1943 in Essen) is president of the Handelsblatt Research Institute and former " business wise ".
Career
Bert Rürup studied economic political science in Hamburg and Cologne and graduated in 1969 with the degree of Diplom- Kaufmann. From 1969 to 1974 he was an assistant at the Institute for Public Economics, University of Cologne, and in 1971 Dr. rer. pol. doctorate. 1974/75 he worked in the planning department of the Federal Chancellery. In 1975 he was appointed professor of Economics at the University of Essen, from 1976 until his retirement in 2009 was Rrup professor of finance and economic policy at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
Rrup had since 1988 a visiting professor at the Technical University of Vienna, and since 1992 at the Technical University of Bucharest. 1990 to 1993 he was also a visiting professor at the Technical University of Leipzig (now University of Technology, Economy and Culture Leipzig ) for " Economic Policy and Public Finance ". From 1991, he was the founding Dean of the " Economics " both at the Technical University of Leipzig and at the University of Leipzig.
From April to December 2009 was Rrup chief economist at financial services provider AWD. His responsibilities were " economic analysis " as well as opening up new markets for company and private pensions. At this time he had already resigned from the group of five farming practices.

Since January 2013 Bert Rürup directs as President Handelsblatt Research Institute, an independent scientific expertise and research center of the publishing group Handelsblatt.
Rrup is a member of several scientific societies and reviewer for several scientific papers.
Political activities
Rrup is member of the SPD and policy advisors. His emphasis is placed on pension policy. Rrup was adviser to the federal government in social policy issues. 1982/83, he advised the Federal Republic of Germany, the EC in the framework of the project " Social Policy under slow growth". From 1986 to 1991 Rrup was a member of the selection and Grants Committee for Collaborative Research of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. 1992-2002 he was scientific adviser to the Enquete Commission of the German Bundestag Demographic Change; 1996-1998 Member of the Commission of the Federal Government further development of the pension system; 1999-2001 Member of the expert group of the Federal Minister of Labour to prepare for the 2001 pension reform from 2000 to 2009 Chairman of the Social Committee.
After several calls to domestic and foreign universities in 2000, he followed the call in the experts for the investigation of the overall economic development (also Council of Economic Experts ), which he chairs took over from March 2005 until his retirement in February 2009. According to a survey by Financial Times Rrup applies in addition to ( and above ) Hans Werner Sinn as one of the two German economists with significant influence on policy.
Other activities
Rrup often appeared as a speaker and panel discussions of insurance and financial service providers, eg for Credit Suisse. Between 2001 and 2008 Rrup frequently been consulted by the Federal Constitutional Court as an expert witness. Rrup was until spring 2009 CEO of the Mannheim Research Institute Economics of Aging, whose start-up funding was provided by the General Association of German Insurers. These collaborations were the publicist Albrecht Müller 's view conflicts with Rürups tasks as an independent advisor to the government authorities and the public. In 2011 Rrup was Ambassador of the Federal Foundation for the Children's Hospice. In the late fall of 2012 he succeeded in the successful mediation of a long- simmering labor dispute between Lufthansa and the Union of Independent Flight Attendant Organisation ( UFO).
