Bert van Vlaanderen

Bert van Vlaanderen (actually Albert van Vlaanderen; born November 25, 1964 in Tienhoven, community Vianen ) is a former Dutch long-distance runner, who had his greatest success in the marathon.

In 1991, he won his first marathon eighth of the Rotterdam Marathon the Dutch championship. Also at the Berlin Marathon, he finished eighth in this year. The following year he defended his fourth national title in Rotterdam and arrived at the marathon Olympic Games in Barcelona on the 15th Place.

As sixth in Rotterdam in 1993, he won his third Dutch league title in a row and won at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 with a time of 2:15:12 hours behind Mark Plaatjes and Luketz Swartboois the bronze medal in the marathon.

After a fifth place in Berlin in 1994, he was second in the 1995 Rotterdam Marathon again by Dutch masters. At his second Olympic marathon in Atlanta in 1996, he finished 45th place. In the same year he was fifth at the Amsterdam Marathon. In 1998 he presented as sixth in Rotterdam in his last marathon performance sporting career with his personal best 2:10:27 h on.

Bert van Vlaanderen is 1.80 m tall, weighed 60 kg to his playing days and started for Hellas Utrecht. From 1993 to 1995 he was elected three times in succession to the Dutch track and field athletes of the year.
