Berta Behrens

Emilie Wilhelmine Bertha Behrens ( born September 7, 1848 in Thale, † September 9, 1912 in Niederlößnitz ), known under the pseudonym Wilhelmine Heimburg, was a German writer.

Life

Behrens was the daughter of the military doctor and writer Hugo Behrens ( pseudonym: B. Renz ); she spent most of her schooling in Quedlinburg. Due to the work-related dislocations of her father in 1876 she came to Salzwedel, where she lived with her parents two years. Encouraged by her father, Behrens could debut in 1878 with her novel From the life of my old friend. Due to this success, it was from this year one of the main staff of the magazine The Gazebo.

After they had spent some time in Frankfurt am Main, the parents ended up leaving with her daughter down in 1881 Kötzschenbroda in today's Hermann Ilgen -Straße 21, where they lived in the neighborhood of Karl May. The house called "Villa Heimburg ". 1910 it acquired in Niederlößnitz in Borstraße 15 today listed villa Heimburg, which she called " Home and Castle ".

The author learned very well received by the audience and was considered the legitimate successor of E. Marlitt and E. Werner. Hedwig Courths Mahler later stated that they would like to read the stories of Wilhelmine Heimburg. After the death of E. Marlitt she was even asked whose last - unfinished - finish writing the novel The Owl House. Home Burg's own most famous work was rags miller of Lizzie in 1879.

Two days after her 64th birthday, the writer Berta Behrens died on September 9, 1912 in Niederlößnitz. She was cremated in the crematorium Tolkewitz and buried in the cemetery Radebeul -West in the family grave Behrens beside the father and her brother Carl Ludwig Max Behrens.
