Berta (also: Beni Shangul, Bertha, Barta, Burta, Wetawit, Jebelawi ) is an African language that is in Ethiopia of around 125,000 (as of 1994) and Sudan spoken by about 22,000 people (as of 1998).

In Ethiopia it is in the Benishangul Gumuz region in Sudan in the area south-west of the Blue Nile in the state spoken to Nile al - azraq on the border with Ethiopia from the äthiopiden ethnic group of Berta.

Berta is within the classification experiment, the Nilo-Saharan languages, a single language, with almost no language has something in common.
